Certified Surveyor of the Accreditation Canada (AC), Medical Legal Consultant and Certified Professional in HealthCare Quality (CPHQ); a Healthcare Quality Executive in the KSA whose vision is to Position the Saudi Arabia Healthcare System in the Map of a Recognized and Well-Renounced Healthcare System in the GCC Countries. He has a strong conviction in improving healthcare quality in the kingdom in compliance with the acceptable international standards through peer review process with the recognized National or International Accreditation Bodies.

An innovator, Dr. Al Obaida is one of the initiators in creating a recognized national accreditation body “Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI)”.

Career: Like some of the most successful individuals, Dr. Al Obaida has a humble career beginning where in 1993 he started his career with the Al Yamama Hospital as a Staff Pharmacist until he became Clinical Pharmacist in 1999 at the same institution. Subsequently, he was also a Clinical Assistant Professor from 1999 until 2002 at the College of Pharmacy in King Saud University, KSA.

In 2000, he joined the Security Forces Hospital Program (SFHP) as a Clinical Pharmacist until he was promoted to Satellite Pharmacy Supervisor. His career took an emphatic turn in 2001 when he got the position of a Quality Management (QM) Director. Early on that same year, he introduced the concept of “Hospital-wide Quality and Excellence”. Later, he spearheaded the hospital-wide initiative in complying with the requirements set in achieving Hospital Recognition thru International Accreditation Body. His deep interest and commitment to improve the Quality of Patient Care and Services made him intensely motivated in inspiring the whole hospital to undergo Accreditation, which the Hospital gracefully achieved in 2003 and re-accredited in 2006 until 2009.

In 2008 at the age of 36, besides being the Quality Management Director at the Security Forces Hospital, Dr. Al Obaida also became the Security Forces Hospital (SFH) Asst. Director General for Executive Affairs due to his determination and intense commitment to Quality Initiatives and Improvement.

Dr. Al Obaida also served in several other organizations as a Consultant on Hospital Administration and Quality Improvement from 2003 to 2007.

Despite his various commitments, he has been a Resource Speaker for several International and National Seminars, Symposiums, Trainings and Workshops on Quality, Patient Safety and Medication Errors. His advocacy in patient safety urged him to write books entitled; “Arabic Medication Encyclopedia” and “Drugs During Pregnancy-English Version”.

Education: Dr. Al Obaida a consistent honor student himself has always been a supporter and promoter of “An Excellent Quality Education”; he gave emphasis on continuous education to all his subordinates and colleagues. He is a graduate of BS Pharmacy with honor in 1993 at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Shortly, in 1997 at the same educational institution, he finished his master’s degree with an Excellent GPA in MS Clinical Pharmacy.

In 2006, he acquired his Ph. D in Hospital Administration and Quality Management through a distant study at USA. In addition, he also took a number of short courses related to Patients Safety, Quality and Hospital Administration.

Dr. Yasser Ibrahim Al Obaida, the youngest among the 8 siblings. A family-oriented himself, married with three beautiful children. He always believed that he got his keen enthusiasm in providing quality service and care, and reverence on education from his parents who taught him at an early age the value of education and humanity.
